The Brake Hard Line is a rigid metal pipe in the automotive braking system used for transmitting brake fluid. It is responsible for precisely transmitting the hydraulic pressure generated by the brake master cylinder to the brakes (such as calipers or brake calipers) of each wheel and is one of the core components for realizing the braking function of the vehicle.
2. Basic Structure
Material: Mostly galvanized steel, copper or aluminum alloy is used, featuring high pressure resistance (typically withstanding 10-20 MPa pressure), corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance.
Shape: It is a rigid straight pipe or a preformed elbow pipe, fixed to the vehicle body through clips or brackets to ensure long-term stability and sealing.
Interface: Both ends are connected to the brake hose, master cylinder or brake through flared joints or threaded interfaces to prevent leakage.
3. Installation location
It is usually arranged along the vehicle chassis, longitudinal beams or firewalls, connecting the master cylinder to the four-wheel brakes. Some areas may be wrapped with anti-rust coatings or sheaths to resist corrosion from salt and water stains on the road surface.
4. The difference from brake hoses
Hard pipe: It is used for fixed paths, with high rigidity and no elasticity, ensuring the stability of high-voltage transmission.
Hose: Connects the hard pipe to the wheel brake, is flexible to adapt to suspension movement, but needs to be replaced regularly (prone to aging).
